Radio Communication
Port Control, Harbour Control & Hiron Point Pilot station maintain watch on VHF Channel 16 & 11 for 24 hours and New Port Control maintains VHF on channel 16 during 0800 to 2200 hours.

- Maximum allowed draft of the vessel 7.0m.
*Note: For arrival and departure of vessel must follow the anticipated permissible draft chart.
Length of ships
Max. 225. m. length ships can enter Mongla port upto anchorage.
Distance from fairway Buoy
Distance of Port jetty is about 71 Nautical miles (131 Km.) from fairway buoy.
Density
The specific gravity of water at the Outer Bar varies from 1005 to 1025 and at Mongla Harbour Area from 1002 to 1015.
Restrictions
Entrance to the Pussur river is about 2 miles wide at the mouth and minimum depth of water in the outer channel is 6.5m. CD.
Navigational aids
As the Port Lies in International Association of Lighthouse Authority (IALA) Region-A. The lighted buoys at various points mark the navigational track in the Pussur River and its approaches. "Conical Shape" green buoys has to be passed on the starboard hands and "can shape" red buoys on the port hand when approaching with the main stream of flood. All the 19 buoys in the outer bar were placed in positions during the last winter of 2006. Presently 2 buoys are missing and 11 buoys are unlit in the outer bar channel. In the inner channel is marked by another 30 nos. of buoys. Presently, except 4 buoys all are missing. However, ships are maneuvered safely by the experienced pilots of the port.
Night navigation
Night navigation is continuous for outward and inward movement of ships upto 140 m. LOA and 6.5 m. draft.
